In the seclusion of a small village in eastern Belgium, Eduard, a bachelor in his mid-forties, leads a reclusive life.
His world has narrowed, revolving between the gruelling care of his mother, who suffers from dementia, and his regular spot at the local bar.
As his mother slips further and further into another world, her mental decline leaves an ever-growing mark on Eduard, drawing him deeper and deeper into a vortex of loss, longing and alcohol, and quietly shifting the boundaries of his everyday life.
